The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Psalm 146:10
I’ve written in the past about a curious phenomenon: how uncomfortable believers make non-believers. They have problems understanding how we can live our lives as we do without fear. The difference is all in how we understand this life. To non-believers, this life is all that there is. With all of the violence, strife and turmoil in today’s world, thinking that this is all there is would be an awful proposition, would it not?
Instead, believers know – not just believe, but really know that this is only a brief stop on our way to eternity, and that nothing can prevent us from living that eternity with our King!
Last week I read a daily newsletter by Dr. Jim Denison. He said, “No matter how ungodly our culture becomes and how unpopular our faith, never forget how the story ends: “The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations” (Ps 146:10).”
At Christmas we hear the story of the birth of Christ. At Easter we celebrate His resurrection and ascension. But every day of every year we should celebrate these facts: He came to earth, He died a horrible death, He was buried in a cold, dark tomb; and, then He rose from the dead to assume His position of honor on His throne where He will rule forever – there’s that word again – forever. So actually, the story really doesn’t end. It keeps going to eternity with us right there with Him at the foot of that throne. That’s the rest of the story!
I cannot imagine how someone that does not believe makes it through a single day.
I am currently reading David Jeremiah’s book “Where Do We Go From Here ?” I am not brave enough to face Eternity without Our Lord Jesus ✝️
I have just recently twice come close to dying and never once felt even a moment of fear, anxiety, or worry. I only felt a deep sense of calm and peacecfrom His very Presence with me every moment. How anyone can go through a trial without that is totally beyond my compression! Bless you, Michael, and the faith you live out, too.
So nice to hear from you again !! I don’t know how I’ve missed it !! I hope you, your family, and your friends have a FABULOUS CHRISTMAS…… and not too much snow !
God’s Son and the ever present Holy Spirit comfort me as I am more openly Grateful for every day, every experience, every opportunity and even lessons.
Thanks for added inspiration.
Touching stories. I have been busy and absent from Michael’s blog for various reasons. Glad to ‘catch up’ on several today. Marguerite
